How Internet-of-Things, telematics and mobile connectivity are changing the nature of construction Jobs
Many big players in the construction industry are already highly-invested in machine intelligence or learning with AI, to provide real-time diagnostics on equipment.
The industry is quickly moving towards a mobile-first approach, and so there is a need for companies to address connectivity issues and thus ensuring they have the right tools available when it comes to telematics and gathering the right data and ensuring optimal work levels.
Some benefits of implementing telematics include:
- Job visibility, in addition to remote time, attendance and work time;
- Equipment information measurements. IE: Used engine hours and other diagnostics from the equipment;
- Knowing who is driving a vehicle which in turn allows for better planning and allocation of resources;
- Clear and concise view of accessible inventory used for jobs through asset scanning and automation of safety forms and inspections;
- Enforcing driver safety.
